The Full Monty

When unemployed Sheffield steelworker Gaz discovers that a group of men dancing and stripping for an audience of women can make a small fortune in a single night, he decides to form his own group and perform at a local club.

Recruiting his best mate, Dave, former colleagues Gerald and Lomper, as well as plasterer Guy and the arthritic Horse, Gaz recklessly promises to go the ‘full monty’.

In this hilarious, heartfelt comedy, the six men discover not only deep friendship but also the inner strength to bare more than just their souls to the whole world.

Auditions 7.30-9.50pm, January 5th and 7th at St Mark’s Church Community Centre, Barton Road, Cambridge CB3 9JZ. Onsite parking available.

Main roles who do ‘the full monty’:

GAZ, unemployed steel worker (M35-45)

Scraping by mainly through grifting and stealing bits of plant from the steelworks where he used to work. Struggling to pay maintenance meaning he may lose contact time with Nathan, which leads to him forming the stripping troupe. Includes a moment of full-frontal nudity. 18 scenes, 496 lines.

DAVE, unemployed crane operator, Gaz’s best mate (M40s)

Suffering with low self-esteem, partly due to the emasculation he feels since being unemployed, but also partly due to weight gain brought on by comfort-eating. Includes a moment of full-frontal nudity. 16 scenes, 277 lines.

LOMPER, part-time security guard (M20s)

Used to work in the cafeteria of the same steelworks as Gaz and Dave, now working as a security guard there. Is gay but is not out at the start of the play. Includes a scene of attempted suicide by hanging. Includes a moment of full-frontal nudity. 13 scenes, 120 lines
