Tom Jones

8 July

– 15 July 2022

By Joan MacAlpine based on the novel by Henry Fielding

Tom Jones is a bawdy rip-roaring comedy set in the heart of the English countryside.

The play, based on Henry Fielding’s classic novel, follows the hilarious and amorous adventures of Tom – a foundling – who travels to London to seek his fortune.

Adapted for the stage by Joan Macalpine, Tom Jones is being performed in the magical gardens of Madingley Hall designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown Brown in 1756,  the perfect setting for our 18th century farce.

This is the only outdoor production I have ever seen where you could hear every word, a feat that helped keep everything unforced and completing the enjoyment of a very entertaining evening.
